A well-planned research environment, comprising open-plan office layouts, separate seminar and meeting rooms and a variety of less formal areas for private or group interaction, encourages communication and co-operation. Designing flexible and functional high-tech research facilities will foster freedom of teamwork - and enhance the speed and quality of output. Not only can high-quality innovative architecture inspire its users, but so help the organisation or institution compete for the best investors and scientists.
