The AUD 200 million flagship research facility will house the SAHMRI headquarters and is being built alongside the New Royal Adelaide Hospital (NRAH). The SAHMRI site encompasses 5,893m² in total area.

The Integrated Design Team, led by Woods Bagot, has conducted widespread consultation with the research community, health sector and universities for their ideas and input in order to appropriately inform the buildings design. Collaborating in the Integrated Design Team are RFD (lab design), Aurecon (structure design) and NDY & Aurecon (services design).

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for South Australia to develop a leading world class medical research facility that will house up to 675 researchers looking at ways to foster innovation and improvements in health services, leading to improved health outcomes for the whole community.

Work began on site in early 2010 and the project is expected to be completed by August 2013.
